What is Pyorrhea Effecting the Most?

Pyorrhea affects the supporting structures of the teeth and jaw the most. Although an infection of this type is advanced and can cause permanent damage, the infection itself can be cured under the care of a dentist, with the right pyorrhea treatment and by removing the bacteria that are the source of the infection.

Bacteria irritate and inflame the gums. There may be no pain at all during this stage of infection. Good dental care by brushing and flossing daily, right pyorrhea treatment as well as regular cleanings and check ups by your dentist can help prevent the infection from developing into pyorrhea. If early infection is not corrected bacteria will continue to attack the tooth and plaque can actually spread and grow between the gum line. The bacteria forms deep pockets between the teeth and these pockets make it easier for the infection to reach deep into the ligaments and bone that support the teeth. The bacteria release toxins and over time inflammation around the bone and tissue of the teeth will continue to worsen and will eventually result in the death of the tooth.

Symptoms of pyorrhea include red, swollen and bleeding gums. As the infection advances there may be drainage of pus and infection from sores at the gums or from around the teeth. This pus may also lead to a bad taste in the mouth or bad breath that is known as halitosis.

Pyorrhea that is untreated can affect the overall health of your mouth in dramatic ways. In the most serious cases the death of ligaments and bone that support the teeth will result in the loss of one or many teeth. This changes physical appearances and this can effect self-esteem. As gums recede, or pull away from the teeth they make take on a long appearance and if the roots are exposed sensitivity to heat, cold, pressure or sweets can make it difficult to eat and drink normally.

Simple prevention of gum infections like pyorrhea gum disease can keep your teeth healthy and strong for your entire life. Brush and floss daily and see your dentist regularly to make sure your teeth stay their healthiest.
