Peace versus Healthcare
More countries have been allotting a large amount of their budget to finance the peace keeping efforts thereby making the Weapons Industry stronger. Yet as much as people would like to keep peace, it is not justifiable enough to make the health care sector suffer due to lack of funds to finance new equipments, machines and medicines to answer the needs of the people's health. Most patients at stake in this kind of dilemma are those needing sophisticated equipment such as those needing surgeries, therapies, laboratory exams, and so on. Let us further understand why these health equipments are very essential than the Military's needs.
CT Scan. Most hospitals do not have this equipment due to the amount it requires to finance its purchase. However, this type of x-ray scanning is very useful to identify complicated damages to the body that normally cannot be seen through an ordinary x-ray. CT scanning can identify normal and abnormal structures and be used to guide procedures.
MRI Scan. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMRI), is primarily a medical imaging technique most commonly used in radiology to visualize detailed internal structure and limited function of the body. This is especially useful in identifying problems that relates to the brain.
Ultrasound equipment. Ultrasound is essential to recognize the problems that may occur while the baby is inside the womb. With this support in health establishments, it could improve the lives of the next generation citizens of the country.
Other than the two medical equipments that have been mentioned above, many hospitals are lacking beds, good sanitation, medicines and other supply needed to answer the needs of its patients. If the government will be able to allot more of its budget to finance health care than the arms industry, maybe it would lead to a better society with a government having a strong foothold to the welfare of its constituents. Rather than more interest on the gun trade, governments should also be concerned to the other needs of its citizens.
